World Cup 2014by bill - 2014-06-18 07:00:00 ( in culture, sports, soccer) [php version] rebuildI love World Cup soccer ("football/futbol" to most of the world), so life is good now with all the games on. I'm ticked at ABC/ESPN for limiting all USA games to ESPN, which I can't see because we don't subscribe to cable TV. Of course, they do that to force people like me to subscribe, which I won't do. If I could get just a one-month subscription, I might do that, but I don't think that's available. Guess I'll be going to a restaurant or bar for those games. Right now, it's Colombia vs. Greece on ABC. I don't care who wins, so long as it's a good game. I hate how so many of these players are diving drama queens, acting like they've been shot or punched, falling to the ground in "agony," when the replay shows that they weren't even touched. [in foreign accent, choose one], "His shoelace grazed my shin! I cannot bear the pain!" But otherwise, I love the game, and these games in particular. Go USA #USMNT #1N1T on Monday against the team that's become their arch-rival, Ghana! UPDATE: I'm able to watch England vs. Italy on ESPN3/WATCHESPN, so I'm hoping I can do the same when the US team plays. similar posts here ... and elsewhere
Comments (We enjoy free speech. Try not to offend, but feel free to be offended.)I don't have cable either, so I can't watch the games. - Lionel Holmes, 2014-06-14 07:55:27And now finally this weekend is the Final (along with the pointless third-place game). The third-place game is usually a more entertaining game, but I have to agree with van Gaal and Robben, it's stupid, bordering on cruel to force teams to play that game. - bill, 2014-07-11 14:41:17Leave your own comment: |
