Why The Rich Don't Give To Charity

by bill - 2013-03-24 ( life / help / charity ) [html version] rebuild

I thought this was quote-worthy: why-the-rich-dont-give

"Last year, Paul Piff, a psychologist at UC Berkeley, published research that correlated wealth with an increase in unethical behavior: "While having money doesn't necessarily make anybody anything," Piff later told New York magazine, "the rich are way more likely to prioritize their own self-interests above the interests of other people." They are, he continued, "more likely to exhibit characteristics that we would stereotypically associate with, say, a-holes jerks."

And here's another, related article: why-dont-rich-give-more

"It's ironic, really. You'd think that millionaires and billionaires would be some of the most generous people on the planet. After all, they could literally withdraw all their money from the bank and use it to insulate the walls of their palatial mansions. They could heat their houses by lighting bales of bills on fire."
