At first light, I let Cleo out to go potty. A little later than usual. It's normally still dark or mostly dark out by the time I've fed her and she's finished inhaling her food.

I stood watching her through the glass door. I sometimes prop the door open to let the cool morning air in, but it was no cooler than inside, and just a hair too humid. I didn't want the humidity getting in and setting off the air conditioner. One of my goals in life these days is to have that thing running as little as possible. Our electric bill is out of control.
