Our First Ever Ethiopian Restaurant

by bill - 2012-06-10 ( culture / food / restaurants ) [html version]

With Elizabeth taken for the night by her wonderful Auntie, Tara and I took the opportunity last night to use a Groupon and go to an Ethiopian restaurant, Mesob. It was our first time trying Ethiopian food.

The appetizer, "sambusa," was very good. When the entree arrived, the injera bread on its own plate looked like napkins. Picking up one of these "napkins," I saw that it was spongy. They don't give you a knife and fork, you tear off pieces of the injera and scoop it all up in that.

We got a sampler platter since we didn't know what else to order. Most of it was pretty good, actually, but it was late and we don't normally eat anywhere near that late, so we didn't eat it all.

Anyway, we liked it. It's on Antioch Pike across from the vehicle emissions test place, if you're interested.
