I almost posted this to LinkedIn, but thought better of it since hiring-managers and headhunters generally have absolutely no sense of humor regarding “the hiring process.” If they would admit (at least to themselves) that they have no idea what they're doing, it might help. 🙂

Anyway, here it is:

"With “application support” types of jobs to offer: Even if I have no recent experience on XYZ application, I would not expect to have much trouble getting up to speed on any given software application. How is that possible? I've been an IT professional for so many years now, touching everything from desktops to servers to the routers, switches to the Internet. After a while, you just know how computers/programmers think."
